The New York Yankees will interview Carlos Beltran for their managerial opening.

Beltran would become the sixth candidate to interview for the job, joining Rob Thomson, Eric Wedge, Hensley Meulens, Aaron Boone and Chris Woodward.

Beltran retired following the Astros' World Series win.

Beltran played for the Yankees between 2014 and 2016.

Aaron Judge had arthroscopic surgery on his left shoulder Monday, but is expected to be ready for the beginning of spring training.

The procedure involved a loose-body removal and cartilage cleanup, according to the New York Yankees.

Judge downplayed the impact of shoulder issues during his slump that began the second half of this past season.

The New York Yankees acquired $250,000 in pool money from the Miami Marlins on Monday in exchange for left-hander Caleb Smith and first baseman Garrett Cooper.

The additional money increases the available signing bonus the Yankees can give to Shohei Ohtani to $3.5 million.

The Yankees have the second-highest total of available international signing bonus money. The Texas Rangers have $3,535,0000, while the Minnesota Twins are third with $3,245,000 available.

The free agent race to sign Alex Cobb will come down to the Chicago Cubs and New York Yankees, reports Peter Gammons.

Cobb has also been linked to the Baltimore Orioles, Philadelphia Phillies and Toronto Blue Jays.

The Yankees and Mariners have agreed to a deal that will send Minor League pitchers JP Sears and Juan Then to New York in exchange for Minor League right-hander Nick Rumbelow, the clubs announced Saturday.

The Yankees' wide-ranging managerial search continued on Saturday afternoon when they interviewed Chris Woodward, the third-base coach for the National League-champion Dodgers, for the vacant position.

Yankees general manager Brian Cashman reached out to the Dodgers earlier in the week for permission to interview Woodward, 41, who becomes the fifth candidate to interview for the job.

Jacoby Ellsbury has a full no-trade clause, but the New York Yankees may still entertain the idea of unloading his contract in a deal this offseason.

Brian Cashman said Tuesday that he hadn't broached the topic with Ellsbury or Scott Boras.

"I haven't even approached Scott," Cashman said. "They have the full no-trade for a reason and I would walk through that process with the highest level of communication and respect because of it. And so I haven't connected with Scott at all, but I know he's here somewhere. I know I'll get a chance to talk to him before I leave, just generally about everything Scott Boras-related for the winter, and I'm sure we'll also talk about Jacoby as well."

"We haven't had any discussions other than status quo, as far as I'm concerned," Boras said.

Ellsbury hit .264/.348/.402 in the fourth year of his seven-year, $153 million contract this past season.

"We ended with the current setup of [Aaron] Judge in right, [Aaron] Hicks in center and Gardy [Brett Gardner] in left for a reason," Cashman said. "They were the best that we had. I think we would anticipate going in that way again."

The New York Yankees will retain Larry Rothschild as pitching coach.

Rothschild has held the position since 2011. The Yankees announced last month that Joe Girardi wouldn't return as manager.

The Yankees will also consider retaining other prior coaches.

Cody Bellinger and Aaron Judge have been named Major League Baseball's top rookies in the National and American League, respectively.

Bellinger bested Josh Bell of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Paul DeJong of the St. Louis Cardinals. The 21-year-old broke the NL rookie record for home runs with 39 for the Los Angeles Dodgers and finished second in the league behind only Giancarlo Stanton in homers.

Judge is the first member of the New York Yankees to win the award since Derek Jeter in 1996. He led the American League with 52 home runs and is an MVP finalist as well.

The New York Yankees have interviewed Eric Wedge for their open manager position.

Wedge has managed the Cleveland Indians and Seattle Mariners. He spent the last two seasons as a player development adviser with the Toronto Blue Jays.

"I'm humble and resilient," he said. "I think that you've got to have to have a certain level of toughness to be a big league manager and handle everything that goes along with that."

Joe Girardi was told last month that he was not being offered a contract after a decade with the Yankees.

Wedge is the second person to interview for the job following New York bench coach Rob Thomson. Aaron Boone has also been linked to the position.
