The Rangers have placed veteran right-hander Derek Lowe on unconditional release waivers and signed utility man Mark Teahen to a minor league deal, according to an ESPN.com report on Thursday.

The 17-year-old pitched for Brazil in the World Baseball Classic this spring.
The New York Mets have signed David Aardsma to a minor league contract.
Aardsma will report to Triple-A Las Vegas.
He was with the Marlins on a minor league deal but exercised his opt-out clause in mid-May.
Assuming his physical goes well, Jonathan Sanchez will sign with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
He is expected to be sent to the minor leagues to get some work in.
The Philadelphia Phillies have signed Carlos Zambrano to a minor league contract.
Zambrano will report this week to Clearwater for extended spring training. He hasn't pitched in the major leagues since September with the Miami Marlins.
The right-hander is 132-91 with a 3.66 ERA in 12 seasons, including 11 with the Chicago Cubs, averaging 14 wins with a 3.43 ERA from 2003-10.
The Philadelphia Phillies have signed 17-year-old German outfielder Julsan Kamara to a seven-year minor league contract.
He will join the organization after finishing school in the spring of 2014. Kamara is currently playing for the farm team of the Buchbinder Legionaere Regensburg in the second division in Germany.
Kamara was one of the German players at a MLB tryout in Mainz last week and apparently impressed the Phillies that much that they signed him quickly.
The Long Island Ducks of the Independent League have signed right-hander Carlos Zambrano.
Ducks president/general manager Michael Pfaff recently said the team prioritizes winning but wants to "help players with their careers, help them continue their careers, and help them get back to the major leagues."
Zambrano joined the Marlins via trade in January 2012, posting a 4.49 ERA in more than 132 innings.
