Pirates Sign Contreras To Minor League Deal

The Pirates have reached an agreement with Jose Contreras on a minor league contract.

The 41-year-old is expected to report to the team on Sunday.

Contreras is recovering from surgery on his right elbow and will be doing rehabilitation work during spring training.

Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez has joined the Rangers' organization in a front-office position, according to an ESPN.com report.

Rodriguez, who spent 12 of his 21 seasons with the Rangers, will hold the title of special assistant to the GM, instructor and ambassador.

Orioles Sign Jurrjens To Minor League Deal

The Orioles have signed Jair Jurrjens to a minor league contract.

The agreement was officially announced on Friday, more than three weeks after the two sides reportedly reached a deal.

Jurrjens, a National League All-Star in 2011 with Atlanta, is 53-37 with a 3.62 ERA in six major league seasons.

Pirates Sign Brandon Inge

The Pirates have signed Brandon Inge to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training.

Inge, 35, was released by Detroit after just nine games last season, and was signed by Oakland.

He hit .226 with 11 home runs and 52 RBIs in 74 games for the Athletics.

Dice-K Reportedly Signs Deal With Indians

The Indians have signed Daisuke Matsuzaka to a minor league contract that could be worth as much as $4 million, according to a report.

Matsuzaka had Tommy John surgery on June 2011 and returned to the rotation less than a year later, but was limited to 11 starts last season, going 1-7 with an 8.28 ERA in his sixth year with the Red Sox.

Orioles Sign Pineiro, Hendrickson To Minor League Deals

The Orioles have signed Joel Pineiro and Mark Hendrickson to minor league contracts, according to sources.

Pineiro, 34, pitched in five games in the Orioles organization in 2012, three for the Gulf Coast League Orioles and then two at Triple-A Norfolk before season-ending shoulder surgery.

Hendrickson, 38, sat out all of the 2012 season, but he pitched for the Orioles from 2009 to 2011. He is attempting to reinvent himself as a side-armer.
