Giants' Alfonso Suspended 50-Games

Eliezer Alfonso, a member of the Giants' 40-man roster, has been suspended for 50 games for testing positive for a performance-enhancing substance. Alfonso has been playing for Triple-A Fresno, and the suspension will begin on May 1st.

Former Tigers' pitcher Denny McLain is back in jail for failing to appear in court in a civil matter, according to a report in the Ann Arbor News on Friday. A former American League MVP and Cy Young Award winner, McLain apparently failed to appear in a Livingston County court and was arrested at 3 p.m. on Friday.

Rays' pitcher Al Reyes was shocked with a stun gun and arrested early Friday morning after picking a fight with a man he claimed pushed him outside of a bar, according the Associated Press. Reyes was charged with being in a fight that disturbed the peace. The police needed to taze Reyes because he would not listen to their requests to calm down.

Jordan Schafer changed his cell phone number Tuesday and was instructed by an attorney not to talk about the charge that he used HGH or about the suspension handed down by commissioner Bud Selig's office. "I want so bad to clear things up, and I want so bad for Jordan to clear things up," said David Schafer, a Florida businessman. "But unfortunately the powers that be say not to say anything. I want so bad to straighten this thing out, I just can't say. ... I don't know what to do. He's in a bad spot. It's not the way it seems. "I never thought it would come to this."

Atlanta's Spiezio Gets Three Years Probation

Scott Spiezio pleaded guilty to misdemeanor drunken driving and hit and run charges stemming from a December car crash and was ordered to serve three years probation on Monday, according to ESPN.com. As part of the guilty plea, prosecutors dropped the aggravated assault and battery charges. He signed a minor-league deal with the Braves last month.
