Ketel Marte Sets Hit-Streak Record, Named NLCS MVP

Ketel Marte was named the MVP of the NLCS as the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 7 on Tuesday night.

Marte hit a double in the seventh inning to extend his postseason hitting streak to 16 games, making it the longest by any player to start his postseason career in Major League history.

"The whole idea is to give everything you've got." Marte said via a translator. "So thankfully, things are working out."

Marte went 12-for-31 (.387) with four doubles, a triple, three RBIs and a stolen base in the NLCS.

Corey Seager broke Barry Bonds' division series record with his ninth walk on Tuesday night, also making postseason history by getting them in just three games.

The Texas Rangers star has one more than Bonds in the San Francisco Giants' four-game loss to the Florida Marlins in the 2003 NL Division Series.

Rays' Yandy Diaz Sits, Wins AL Batting Title

Yandy Diaz edged Corey Seager for the American League batting title.

Diaz (.3295.), who trailed Seager (.3298) by percentage points heading into Sunday's season finale, sat out game 162.

The Tampa Bay Rays' playoff seeding was set, allowing Diaz to sit. The Texas Rangers were still trying to win the AL West title, so Seager played and went 0-for-4. His batting average dipped to .327, giving Diaz the batting crown.

Diaz is the first Tampa Bay player to win a batting title.

Braves Tie MLB Record With 307 Home Runs

The Atlanta Braves finished the 2023 season with 307 home runs, tying the Major League record.

Marcell Ozuna homered twice in Sunday's season finale against the Washington Nationals.

The Braves matched the season home-run record set by the 2019 Minnesota Twins. They set a Major League record with a .501 slugging percentage, topping the .495 for the 2019 Houston Astros.

The Braves are the first team with four players with at least 35 homers, with Ronald Acuna, Jr. (41) and Austin Riley (37) joining Matt Olson and Ozuna. Ozzie Albies hit 33 homers.
