Justin Verlander Passes John Smoltz On Playoff Strikeout List

Justin Verlander broke John Smoltz's career mark for strikeouts in the postseason during Game 2 of the World Series on Wednesday night.

Verlander struck out Washington Nationals outfielder Victor Robles in the second inning for his 200th postseason strikeout, surpassing the mark of 199 set by Smoltz in 2009.

The Houston Astros right-hander took the loss, allowing the four runs on seven hits in six innings, striking out six and walking three. His postseason strikeout total stands at 202.

George Springer Homers In Record Fifth Straight World Series Game

George Springer set a record Tuesday night when he homered in his fifth consecutive World Series game, a seventh-inning homer off Washington Nationals reliever Tanner Rainey.

Springer had homered in the final four games of the 2017 World Series for the Houston Astros, winning MVP honors in the process.

"I'd rather win," Springer said of the accomplishment following Houston's 5-4 loss in Game 1. "I mean, cool. Great. It's an honor ... but no doubt about it. I'd rather win."

Gavin Lux Makes History With HR In First Playoff At-Bat

Gavin Lux made history in the Los Angeles Dodgers' 6-0 win over the Washington Nationals on Thursday night.

Lux became the youngest player ever to hit a pinch-hit home run in the playoffs. He's also the youngest Dodger ever to go long in the postseason.

The Dodgers called Lux up on Sept. 2. He doesn't turn 22 until Nov. 23.
