Yu Darvish Gets First Victory At Wrigley With Cubs

Yu Darvish finally earned his first victory at Wrigley Field as a member of the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday.

It took the right-hander 14 home starts across two seasons and 17 months.

"It's amazing," Darvish said. "First win at Wrigley. I was always looking for that first win."

The Cubs bested the Cincinnati Reds 5-2.

Darvish signed a six-year, $126 million deal with the Cubs in February 2018.

Coors Field may be a hitter-friendly park, but the numbers in 2019 have been more extreme than usual.

Through last week, hitters are collectively slashing .307/.370/.526 in Coors Field this season.

The league average slash line is .252/.322/.431.

The average Major League club is scoring 4.8 runs per game this season, but at Coors Field teams are averaging 6.94 runs.

The New York Yankees lost to the New York Mets 4-2 on Tuesday night, ending their record home run streak in the process.

The Yankees had homered in 31 straight games, a Major League record.

MLB Again Breaks Record For Home Runs In June

After setting the record for most home runs in a month in May, Major League batters did it again in June with 1,142 home runs.

Five of the top six home run months have occurred in the last three years.

A total of 3,421 home runs were hit in 1,255 games through Sunday, an average of 2.73 per game. That is up 19% from the 2.28 average through June last year, when 2,822 home runs were hit in 1,236 games.
