Giants Expected To Hire Coaches With Major League Experience

Oct 30, 2017 7:42 AM

The San Francisco Giants don't have a hitting coach, assistant hitting coach or pitching coach, but those jobs will be filled after the World Series.

The club continues to interview candidates and they are expected to hire coaches with Major League experience. They are not inclined to give a Minor League coach his first big league job.

Giants Remove Dave Righetti As Pitching Coach

Oct 21, 2017 10:23 PM

The San Francisco Giants have reassigned Dave Righetti to a front office role with the club.

Righetti had served as pitching coach as the Giants since 2000. Righetti will now serve as special assistant to general manager Bobby Evans.

"We had a last-place season. That can happen in sports, like you have a lost year in life," Giants executive vice president Brian Sabean said after the regular season. "But we're not last-place people, and we're not a last-place organization. We're the furthest thing from that."

The move was part of an announced staff shakeup that resulted in Mark Gardner and Steve Decker also being reassigned.

Ron Wotus and Hensley Meulens have also been reassigned.
