An MLB.com source confirmed on Thursday that the Reds have been in talks with the agent for Japanese free-agent outfielder Shogo Akiyama. Nikkan Sports from Japan first reported that based on the club’s persistent interest, Cincinnati could be the most likely team to sign Akiyama.
The Cincinnati Reds have reached an agreement on a two-year, $15 million pact with Wade Miley, according to a source.
The contract includes a club option for 2022 that could bring the total value up to $24 million.
Miley, 33, had a 3.98 ERA and 140 strikeouts for the Houston Astros in 2019.
The Cincinnati Reds and Mike Moustakas have agreed to terms on a four-year, $64 million contract, according to league sources.
The 31-year-old has been a free agent in each of the last three offseasons.
The Reds intend to play Moustakas at second base.
