Cincinnati Reds' outfielder Ken Griffey Jr. broke his left hand in a recent home accident. Griffey will be in a hard cast for three weeks before re-evaluating the injury.

Reds To Honor Rose

Pete Rose is being honored by a Hall of Fame, the Cincinnati Reds Hall of Fame. The Reds Hall of Fame and Museum called a news conference for Tuesday to announce plans for an exhibit recognizing the achievements of the banned career hits leader. The Reds said Monday that Rose will be unable to attend because of illness. The team was attempting to arrange a conference call with him.

Reds, Weathers Agree To $5 Million, 2-Year Deal

David Weathers agreed to a $5 million, two-year contract Tuesday with the Reds, who are trying to overhaul their bullpen. The Reds also designated left-handed starter Brandon Claussen for assignment, opening a spot on their 40-man roster to keep Weathers.

Sources: Weathers Close To Deal With Reds

Free agent David Weathers is closing in on a two-year deal with the Reds, two baseball sources at the winter meetings told ESPN.com. The agreement is believed to be worth about $5 million. Weathers, 37, has a 63-70 record in 16 major-league seasons. The Giants were another club that expressed interest in him, and one source said Weathers turned down at least one three-year offer to pitch for Cincinnati.

The Reds think they got damaged goods when they acquired reliever Gary Majewski from the Nationals last season. And now they are prepared to take their case to Major League Baseball. "We don't feel like we were dealt with fairly, and you can go to the bank that we're not going to take it sitting down," Reds general manager Wayne Krivsky said at the team's Redsfest on Saturday, according to the Cincinnati Post.
