The Toronto Blue Jays are finalizing their roster as Opening Day approaches.

They have named Aaron Sanchez their fifth starter. He was locked in a battle with Gavin Floyd and Drew Hutchison for Toronto's final spot.

The Blue Jays also claimed Jesus Montero off waivers from the Seattle Mariners.

The Seattle Mariners have placed Jesus Montero on waivers, according to a report.

The Mariners will make an official announcement on Monday once the 48-hour waiver period has passed.

The New York Mets have released Ruben Tejada, who cleared waivers.

New York remains responsible for a little less than $500,000 for Tejada this season. They previously avoided arbitration by agreeing to a non-guaranteed $3 million deal.

Tejada, 26, hit .261/.338/.350 in 407 plate appearances in 2015.
