The Royals have added depth to their pitching staff, claiming Chris Volstad off waivers from the Cubs.
Volstad went 3-12 with a 6.31 ERA in 21 starts for the Cubs in 2012.
Chicago acquired Volstad in the trade that sent Carlos Zambrano to Miami.

The Pirates announced today they have claimed off waivers pitcher Chad Beck from the Blue Jays and catcher Ramon (Ali) Solis from the Padres.
The announcement was made by Pirates Senior VP, GM Neal Huntington. To make room on the 40-man roster for Beck and Solis, the Pirates have designated for assignment catcher Eric Fryer and infielder Jeff Clement.
