Starling Marte To Begin Rehab With Class-A Bradenton

Pirates outfielder Starling Marte is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment Sunday as he nears the end of his drug suspension.

Marte will begin his rehab stint with Class A Bradenton. The 28-year-old is serving an 80-game ban after testing positive for a performance-enhancing drug. He is eligible to return to the majors July 18.

Astros pitcher David Paulino received an 80-game suspension without pay Saturday after he tested positive for a performance-enhancing substance.

Major League Baseball announced that the rookie right-hander tested positive for Boldenone. His penalty began with Saturday night's game against the Yankees.

Dodgers-Padres Discipline Issued By MLB

Los Angeles Dodgers manager Dave Roberts has received a one-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for his actions during an argument with San Diego Padres manager Andy Green in the bottom of the first inning of Friday’s game between the two Clubs. In addition, Green and Dodgers pitcher Alex Wood have each received an undisclosed fine.

Joe Torre, Chief Baseball Officer for Major League Baseball, made the announcement.

Roberts’ suspension will be served tonight, when the Clubs continue their series at Petco Park in San Diego.
