The Pirates still have some money to spend this offseason and they are looking for a starting pitcher.

Derrek Lee finished the 2011 season with the Pirates and Pittsburgh would like to re-sign the first baseman. In 28 games with the Pirates, Lee hit .337 with seven home runs and 18 RBI.

The Pirates have acquired third baseman Casey McGehee from the Brewers in a trade for reliever Jose Veras. The deal came just hours after the Brewers agreed to terms with free-agent third baseman Aramis Ramirez. McGehee had a strong rookie season in 2009 and a big year in 2010, but slumped at the plate in 2011 and lost his starting job to Jerry Hairston Jr. late in the season.

The Pirates have agreed to sign left-hander Erik Bedard to a $4.5 million deal. Bedard, 32, is coming off his healthiest season since 2007.

The Pirates have signed free-agent outfielder Nate McLouth to a one-year contract worth $1.75 million. McLouth, 30, was Pittsburgh's 25th-round draft pick in 2000. He made his debut in 2005 and earned an All-Star berth in 2008.
