Justin Morneau hit .267/.333/.440 with 19 home runs and 570 plate appearances in 2012, a season that would be considered a healthy one by his recent standards.

He suffered a career-threatening concussion in 2010.

For the first time in what seems like forever, Morneau is preparing for the 2013 season ahead of spring training at full strength.

"... Everything this winter has been totally different -- no restrictions with the concussion stuff," he told Phil Mackey of 1500 ESPN Radio. "I've been able to do everything I've wanted to do, and it's been a good feeling. I'm starting to get excited for the season, instead of feeling like I'm starting behind the 8-ball."

Scott Diamond has undergone surgery to remove a bone chip from his left elbow, but will be ready for Spring Training.

Diamond, 26, had the arthroscopic surgery done by Dr. David Altchek in New York on Tuesday.

"He'll be ready for Spring Training," Terry Ryan said. "But he will not participate in the World Baseball Classic."

Diamond was set to play for Team Canada after a breakout season in 2012.

The Twins have signed Rich Harden to a Minor League contract with an invitation to compete for a spot on the staff in spring training.

Harden, 31, missed the entire 2012 season after surgery on Jan. 31 to repair the rotator cuff in his throwing shoulder.

The Pirates have agreed to a two-year, $14 million deal with Francisco Liriano, according to The Star Tribune.

The left-hander is joining his third team in five months after spending more than five years with the Twins.

The Twins have been in contact with the agent for Rich Harden, according to multiple sources.

Harden, who has been hampered by injuries in recent years, is attempting a comeback.

Veteran pitcher Mijke Pelfrey and the Twins finalized a $4M, one-year contract on Thursday, filling another hole in a thin starting rotation, according to an ESPN.com report.

Teams have inquired with the Twins about Justin Morneau, but they haven't been received enough of an offer to consider moving the slugger.

Morneau is heading into the final year of his contract for $14 million.

Veteran pitcher Mike Pelfrey has agreed to a one-year contract with the Twins with a base salary of $4M and the potential to earn another $1.5M in incentives, a major league source told ESPNNewYork.com. 

The deal is pending a physical.

Brandon Webb hasn't thrown a pitch since Opening Day 2009, but hasn't given up on a possible comeback.

Darren Wolfson of 1500 ESPN reports that the Twins will be among the teams in attendance for a throwing session by Webb after the holidays.

Webb's last comeback was in 2011 after signing with the Rangers, but he struggled in the minors while showing diminished velocity.

The Twins have reached an agreement with Kevin Correia on a two-year, $10 million contract, according to a source.

Correia went 12-11 with a 4.21 ERA for Pittsburgh last season.
