While Atlanta has continued to be linked to J.T. Realmuto rumors, a source said Saturday night the Braves exited the Winter Meetings with the understanding there will not be any further reason for them to discuss trading for the Marlins' All-Star catcher.

The New York Mets are making a push to acquire J.T. Realmuto from the Miami Marlins.

The Marlins consider the Mets the front-runner to acquire the catcher, according to one source.

However, New York general manager Brodie Van Wagenen said: "I wouldn't want to say we're making significant progress or close to anything."

The Miami Marlins have hired Mel Stottlemyre, Jr. as pitching coach.

Trey Hillman will also join Don Mattingly's staff as first base and infield coach.

Stottlemyre, Jr. was the pitching coach for the Seattle Mariners from 2016-18.
