Indians Confident Corey Kluber Will Pitch In ALDS

Sep 29, 2016 6:57 AM

The Cleveland Indians are optimistic that Corey Kluber will be available to pitch in the ALDS.

Kluber left Monday night's game with what an MRI revealed to be a mild quadriceps strain.

"He pitched four innings with this," Terry Francona said. "We wanted to get him out of there because we didn't want to make it worse. It's not like he's in a wheelchair. He'll be fine."

Kluber's timetable for returning to game activity is a week to 10 days. Cleveland's first playoff game is Oct. 6.

Corey Kluber Out 7-10 With Quadriceps Strain

Sep 28, 2016 8:31 AM

Corey Kluber has a mild quadriceps strain and will be sidelined for 7 to 10 days, an MRI has confirmed.

The timetable could cause the Cleveland Indians to delay Kluber's first postseason start.

The Indians will open the playoffs on Oct. 6.

"It's obviously not the best possible news, but it is a heck of a lot better than it could have been," Terry Francona said. "This will give him a chance to rest up and hopefully throw a couple bullpens. In the long run, that could help him."

Wilson Ramos Hurts Knee; Nationals Aren't Optimistic

Sep 27, 2016 7:46 AM

Wilson Ramos hurt his right knee on Monday night and the Washington Nationals aren't optimistic about his availability over the short-term.

Ramos jumped to catch a relay throw on a play at the plate and when his right foot hit the dirt, he crumbled to the ground. Dusty Baker said Ramos would have an MRI on Tuesday to determine the extent of the damage.

"There's nothing you can do about it," Baker said. "You've got to play, and nobody feels sorry for you, so we're not going to feel sorry for ourselves."

It was the same knee Ramos injured badly during the 2012 season, when he tore his ACL and medial collateral ligament.

Pablo Sandoval Progressing 'Faster Than Expected'

Sep 25, 2016 7:38 PM

On Saturday, Red Sox manager John Farrell said Pablo Sandoval is progressing faster than expected from shoulder surgery, and Farrell didn't rule out the third baseman from rejoining the team if needed.

"You can never forecast injury, you can never forecast what takes place ahead," Farrell told reporters before the Red Sox played the Rays on Saturday.

"Nothing has been ruled out with Pablo. Particularly with how he's responding. He's well ahead of schedule," Farrell added.
