The Toronto Blue Jays finalized a three-year, $37 million contract with side-arming right-hander Tyler Rogers on Monday that includes a 2029 team option. The 34-year-old becomes the latest pitching addition for the American League champion Blue Jays following a busy offseason.
Rogers led the major leagues this year with 81 pitching appearances split between the San Francisco Giants and the New York Mets. The Mets acquired him on July 30 for pitchers Jose Butto and Blade Tidwell, along with minor league outfield prospect Drew Gilbert.
Rogers leads the majors with 403 appearances and 406 1/3 relief innings since 2020. His durability and consistency make him a valuable addition to Toronto's bullpen for the 2026 season.
The veteran reliever has compiled a 2.76 ERA in 420 games for San Francisco (2019-25) and the Mets. His side-arm delivery creates difficult matchups for opposing hitters from both sides of the plate.
Rogers is the latest addition to Toronto's significantly revamped pitching staff. The Blue Jays previously agreed to a $210 million, seven-year contract with Dylan Cease and a $30 million, three-year deal with Cody Ponce.
Toronto also acquired reliever Chase Lee in a trade with Detroit. The aggressive approach signals the Blue Jays' commitment to building a championship-caliber roster after winning the American League pennant.
Left-hander Justin Bruihl was designated for assignment to open a roster spot for Rogers. The move finalizes Toronto's latest bullpen addition as the team prepares for the 2026 season.
Rogers' proven track record as a high-leverage reliever provides Toronto manager with a reliable option in late-game situations. His ability to pitch multiple innings makes him particularly valuable in today's bullpen-heavy game.
