The San Francisco Giants have reached a two-year, $22 million agreement with right-hander Adrian Houser that includes a team option for a third season, according to a source. The deal comes one day after the Giants signed reliever Jason Foley to a one-year contract.
A source told ESPN's Jeff Passan about the Houser agreement on Tuesday. The right-hander went 8-5 with a 3.31 ERA and 92 strikeouts for the Tampa Bay Rays and Chicago White Sox in 2025.
Houser has a career record of 40-44 with a 4.06 ERA and 576 strikeouts in 174 regular-season games. He has made 125 starts over nine MLB seasons with the Rays, White Sox, Brewers, and Mets.
The 32-year-old provides veteran depth to San Francisco's rotation. His experience with multiple organizations brings valuable knowledge to a Giants pitching staff seeking consistency.
Foley signed a one-year deal worth $2 million with the Giants on Tuesday, according to a source who spoke to ESPN's Jesse Rogers. The right-hander did not pitch for the Tigers last season after undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery in May.
The Giants are hopeful Foley can return to pitching by midseason. Detroit non-tendered him after the 2025 season despite his strong 2024 performance.
Foley led the Tigers with 28 saves in 2024 while posting a 3-6 record and 3.15 ERA in 69 appearances. In three-plus seasons with Detroit, he compiled a 7-9 record with a 3.16 ERA across 210 games.
The back-to-back signings represent San Francisco's commitment to strengthening its pitching staff for the 2026 season. Both veterans bring proven track records at the major league level despite recent challenges.
