It appears unlikely that the Colorado Rockies and Nolan Arenado will agree on a contract extension this season.

"I don't think anything is going to happen until after the season. We have a good team and our focus is on winning — as it should be," Arenado said.

Arenado later added "and that's what everyone wants," which seems to indicate that both sides are content to wait.

The star is controlled through the 2019 season and will earn close to $18 million this coming season. He is eligible for arbitration one more time next winter before hitting the open market in the 2019-20 offseason.
