The Minnesota Twins and Byron Buxton have mutual interest in a contract extension.

The two sides have discussed a new agreement, but there is "no traction yet on a multiyear deal," according to a report.

Buxton is controllable for the next four seasons, but 2018 will be his final year before arbitration.

The 24-year-old hit .253/.314/.413 with 16 home runs, 51 RBI and 29 stolen bases last season.
