Mets right-hander Matt Harvey was not only named to his first All-Star team this month, the 24-year-old will start for the National League on Tuesday night at Citi Field.

Harvey is 7-2 with a 2.35 ERA and 147 strikeouts for the Mets, who are hosting the Midsummer Classic.

"It adds more drive," Harvey said of starting for the NL. "I came up and obviously wanted to do everything I could to fill in for R.A. Dickey, who had a tremendous season last year. We knew him not being with us, it was going to take a lot and someone needed to step in.

"You know, it was a role I wanted to take, and something I took pride in, and having this opportunity and getting the nod is one step closer.

"Like I said, it's something I'm very proud of and obviously it's more drive to keep going and hopefully make this not my last All-Star Game."
