The Mets aren't making much progress on a contract extension with R.A. Dickey, who is set to make $5 million in 2013 coming off a Cy Young season.

It seems as though New York is looking for the type of return that comes with a No. 1 pitcher in trade talks for Dickey, but valuing him less in extension talks.

Tom Verducci writes that what "the Mets should do is send Dickey to Toronto for catcher J.P. Arencibia and outfielder Anthony Gose, which would net them two young, major-league-ready everyday players."
