Carlos Pena will see a reduction in playing time as Evan Longoria returns from the disabled list. Pena will see less time when left-handed pitchers are on the mound. Longoria will spend some time at designated hitter and Jeff Keppinger will play some first base. "I've been all for giving Carlos a day off now and then more often, and I thought that might help him finish strongly, also," Joe Maddon said. Pena, a left-hander, is hitting .196 overall, the lowest of any major-leaguer with 400 plate appearances. Pena has been particularly bad against lefty pitchers, hitting .163.
