Curtis Granderson was dropped to sixth in the batting order for the first time in three months on Wednesday night.
Granderson delivered with a home run and four RBI as New York defeated Detroit 12-8.
Granderson has hit second or leadoff for much of the season, but a move was made after he submitted back-to-back 0-for-5 games.
"It's just very coincidental," he said of his breakout game. "I've been with this team for three seasons and I think I've batted every spot but cleanup. It really doesn't matter where I hit. I just want to win."
