The future is a mystery for longtime Yankees catcher Jorge Posada. His contract expires after the season and he represented himself very well in the ALDS against the Tigers. Posada's eyes were puffy and red following New York's season-ending loss to Detroit in Game 5 of the ALDS on Thursday night. He has said that he wants to play in 2012 and the Yankees appear very unlikely to offer him any sort of contract. They want Jesus Montero to be the regular designated hitter while leaving the spot open to rest their stars at times. Posada can still hit from the left side and Joel Sherman of The New York Post writes that it isn't out of the question that an American League team could offer him a one-year deal worth, say, $1 million or $2 million.
