Shortstop Elvis Andrus is signing with the Chicago White Sox, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan on Thursday.

Andrus, who was released by the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday, cleared waivers and is expected to join the White Sox in Cleveland on Friday.

The Chicago Cubs on Monday claimed outfielder/designated hitter Franmil Reyes off waivers from the Cleveland Guardians.

Reyes, who began the season as the cleanup hitter for the Guardians, was designated for assignment by the team on Saturday. He had been optioned to Triple-A Columbus earlier last week after batting .213 with nine home runs and 104 strikeouts in 263 at-bats.

The Rockies have claimed Dinelson Lamet off waivers, capping a week in which the right-hander was traded by one organization and designated for assignment by another.

Lamet was part of the package the Brewers received Monday in the trade that sent four-time All-Star closer Josh Hader to the Padres. The Brewers announced two days later that they had designated Lamet for assignment.

The Rockies announced Friday they had claimed Lamet and designated right-hander Ashton Goudeau for assignment.
