Dodgers Place Lilly On Waivers
The Dodgers placed starting pitcher Ted Lilly on waivers Friday, according to Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports.
Los Angeles acquired Lilly from the Cubs on July 31.
Lilly is 5-0 with a 1.83 ERA and 28 strikeouts in five starts for the Dodgers.
Dodgers Place Manny On Waivers
The Dodgers have placed left fielder Manny Ramirez on waivers, according to sources.
Teams will have until Friday to put in a claim on Ramirez. Any team that's awarded the claim would have until Tuesday afternoon to work out a trade with the Dodgers.
Ramirez's contract includes a no-trade clause, which means he'd also have to approve any possible deal.
Tigers outfielder Johnny Damon was claimed on waivers by the Red Sox this week, but he denied the move.
It was reported on Tuesday that the White Sox planned to claim Ramirez.
White Sox Plan To Claim Manny Off Waivers
The White Sox plan to claim Manny Ramirez once the Dodgers place him on waivers, FoxSports.com reports. Chicago tried to trade for Ramirez before the trading deadline.
Los Angeles hasn't put Ramirez on waivers yet, but that move could come as early as Tuesday.
Damon Claimed By Unknown Team
Tigers outfielder Johnny Damon has been claimed on waivers by an unknown team, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports is reporting.
Damon is hitting .270 with seven home runs and 40 RBI.
Manny May Hit Waivers This Week
Dodgers left fielder Manny Ramirez could land on waivers this week, according to sources.
Los Angeles could have put Ramirez on waivers Monday, but they decided not to do so, according to ESPN.com's Jayson Stark.
Monday was the first business day since Ramirez came off the disabled list.
Baseball sources indicate that unless Ramirez exercises his no-trade clause, he'll likely be with a new team by the Aug. 31 waiver deadline.
Cody Ross Awarded To Giants
Fading from the playoff race, the Marlins began their latest paring of payroll Sunday when starting outfielder Cody Ross was awarded to the Giants on a waiver claim, according to an Associated Press report.
Ross will give the Giants more depth for the final weeks of the playoff race.
Giants Claim Cody Ross From Marlins
A National League team has claimed Marlins outfielder Cody Ross on waivers and sources say the Giants have been identified as the club.
Nothing could be confirmed due to the confidentiality of the waiver process.
Sources added that the Braves and Phillies, two teams linked to Ross, did not receive the claim.
If no deal is completed by Monday, the Marlins can dump Ross on the claiming team or pull him back from waivers.
Ross is owed slightly more than $1 million for the rest of the season.
Tigers Place Damon, Inge On Waivers
The Tigers placed outfielder Johnny Damon and infielder Brandon Inge on waivers Thursday, according to ESPN.com's Buster Olney.
"Heard this: Johnny Damon and Brandon Inge are currently passing through waivers. They were placed on waivers Thursday," Olney wrote on his Twitter page.
Rockies Place Hawpe On Waivers
The Rockies reportedly placed Brad Hawpe on waivers Monday.
Teams will have a 48-hour window to claim him.
Placing players on waivers in August is a common practice, but Colorado is looking to get rid of Hawpe and the $2.2 million he's owed over the remainder of the season.
The Rockies have a $10 million club option on Hawpe for 2011 but have no plans to exercise it.
Orioles Pull Luke Scott Off Waivers
Orioles outfielder Luke Scott was claimed on waivers earlier this month, but the team pulled him back, according to FOX Sports.
If Scott had cleared waivers, Baltimore could have shopped him to the 29 other clubs.
He is hitting .365 with five home runs and 11 RBIs in 13 games this month.
