The Phillies have traded right-hander Joaquin Benoit and cash to the Pittsburgh Pirates for minor league right-hander Seth McGarry.

Benoit, 40, was 1-4 with two saves and a 4.07 ERA in 44 appearances. He joins his eighth team in his 16 seasons in the majors.

McGarry had a 1.34 ERA in 31 games for Class A Bradenton this season. 

After beating the Braves 10-3, the Phillies announced two trades involving a total of five players.

The Nationals acquired Howie Kendrick and cash considerations in exchange for minor league pitcher McKenzie Mills. Starting pitcher Jeremy Hellickson is headed to the Orioles, and the Phillies will receive outfielder Hyun Soo Kim and left-handed pitcher Garrett Cleavinger from Baltimore.

The Philadelphia Phillies have traded Pat Neshek to the Colorado Rockies for three minor league players.

Philadelphia received shortstop Jose Gomez and right-handers Alejandro Requena and J.D. Hammer in the deal.

Neshek goes from the 35-64 Phillies to the 58-44 Rockies, who are in the thick of the playoff race.

"It's exciting," Neshek said. "You jump right into a playoff race. That's a great team with a great offense.

"It's bittersweet, too. I enjoyed my time here. These guys are some of the better guys I've played with, and this is one of my favorite places I've been. There's a lot of emotion."

Colorado's bullpen ranks 25th in the majors with a 4.53 ERA.

The Philadelphia Phillies aren't in playoff contention, but are showing interest in trading for Dee Gordon.

Gordon is under contract for roughly $38 million over the next three seasons.

Other clubs are interested in a trade with the Miami Marlins for the speedy infielder as well.

The Boston Red Sox have interest in trading for Pat Neshek, according to Major League sources.

The Red Sox are looking for a late-inning reliever prior to the non-waiver trade deadline.

Neshek, 36, is having one of the best seasons of his career. He entered the All-Star break with a 1.27 ERA in 37 appearances for the Philadelphia Phillies.

The reliever is a noted autograph collector and has already set his sights on a target for next week.

"Zack Greinke," Neshek said. "He's tough. Hopefully we can talk."

He picked up a slew of signatures during his first All-Star appearance in 2014. Greinke's autograph can be tough to get, but Neshek already has a plan in place.

"I'll have my kid run over and get him," he said. "It's going to be cool. My kid is a lot older now. He wasn't even 1 back then [in 2014]. He's 3½ now. He'll be able to watch guys hit home runs, and it will be really neat."
