Angels Poised For Run At Signing Anthony Rendon

Dec 11, 2019 10:59 PM

Anthony Rendon has drawn interest from a number of teams this offseason, but the Los Angeles Angels may be poised to make a strong run at the free agent.

The Angels traded Zack Cozart to the San Francisco Giants on Tuesday, clearing more than $12 million from their 2020 payroll.

L.A. reportedly offered Gerrit Cole just under $300 million, which should be more than enough to land Rendon.

Phillies Have Interest In Signing Anthony Rendon

Dec 9, 2019 8:28 AM

The Philadelphia Phillies have already signed Zack Wheeler this offseason, but they may not be done in free agency.

They reportedly have interest in Anthony Rendon, who is the top position player on the market.

Signing Rendon would put the Phillies over the Competitive Balance Tax for the first time.

If they don't land Rendon, Philadelphia could turn to Josh Donaldson.

Zack Wheeler Agrees To Five-Year, $118M Deal With Phillies

Dec 6, 2019 8:39 AM

The Philadelphia Phillies have agreed to a five-year, $118 million deal with Zack Wheeler.

Wheeler turned down a larger offer from the Chicago White Sox.

Wheeler made 60 starts over the past two seasons, going 23-15 with a 3.65 ERA with 374 strikeouts in 377⅔ innings.

Wheeler's name has come up at the trade deadline for the past few years, but the New York Mets held on to him, and the right-hander started to fulfill some of the promise that surrounded him before Tommy John surgery derailed his career in 2015.
