Milton Bradley has finally been traded. On Tuesday, the switch-hitting outfielder was dealt by Los Angeles along with Antonio Perez to the Oakland Athletics in exchange for minor-league outfielder Andre Ethier, the Texas League's top player this year.
Bradley, 27, was limited to only 75 games in 2005. The outfielder batted .290, hit 13 homers, drove in 38 runs, and scored 49 runs in limited action with the Dodgers.
Perez, who spent time in Triple-A, hit .297 along with three home runs and 23 RBI in 259 at-bats with the Los Angeles Dodgers last season.
Andre Ethier, considered as one of Oakland?s top prospects, hit for a .319 batting average along with 18 home runs and 80 runs batted in with Double-A Midland last season.
Breaking Down The Deal
Bradley to Oakland is a fantastic move by Athletics GM Billy Beane. Although Andre Ethier had a phenomenal 2005 season in Double-A, he is a prospect and, according to scouts, is still learning to drive the ball. Putting his off-the-field antics aside, Bradley is the total package. He is one of those, dare I say it, ?5-tool players.? Oakland also obtains a solid middle infielder in Perez; he will likely serve as a backup to Scutaro and Bobby Crosby. If Bradley can focus primarily on baseball, this will be one of the best trades Beane has made since becoming the Athletics GM.
