Tulowitzki Fears He's Headed For DL

Sep 7, 2014 12:49 PM

Rockies shortstop Troy Tulowitzki said it was possible he could go to the 15-day disabled list after straining his left groin on Wednesday night. Tulowitzki said how he feels Thursday will determine the next step in dealing with an injury that has lingered since the season-opening series in Houston in April. "It's tough," the shortstop said. "The first thing I thought about was we're playing well and we have a chance for a sweep [Thursday against the Astros]. But sitting there thinking about it, there's nothing you can really do. When you're hurt, you're hurt. "There are some other guys around the league that are dealing with the same sort of things. Only for so long you can keep going out there until you need to get it right. My groin has been bothering me. There have been tweaks here and there and I'd get a day [off], but this is worse than just the kind of tweak I'd normally felt."

Sep 18, 2014 7:46 AM

Troy Tulowitzki left Wednesday night's game against the Astros in the seventh inning with what the team said was a strained left groin. The Rockies shortstop appeared to suffer the injury while running out an infield ground out in the bottom of the sixth inning. Tulowitzki is scheduled to be re-evaluated on Thursday. "We don't know anything more than just that. We just have to wait and see to what extent," manager Jim Tracy said.

Matt Kemp Set For MRI On Hamstring

Aug 11, 2014 10:02 PM

Just a day after coming off the disabled list, Matt Kemp aggravated his left hamstring while scoring from first base against the Brewers on Wednesday night. Kemp's stride slowed noticeably as he came around third base. He left the game immediately. "I don't know what happened," the Dodgers center fielder said. "It's just kind of gave out. It's definitely frustrating, having just come back, and now I will be sitting out a while. ... I tried to hide it, but there really was no hiding this." Kemp, who broke a bat over his knee in the dugout before heading to the clubhouse, will undergo an MRI on Thursday to determine the extent of the injury.

The Angels have placed Jered Weaver on the disabled list with a lower-back injury. Weaver said he's hopeful he can return shortly after he's eligible to do so on June 12. It is only the second DL stint of Weaver's career. "It's always disappointing knowing you're not going to be out there pitching two or three times," Weaver said. "I'm a competitor when I get out there, but I'm going to work my butt off in between here to do whatever it takes to get back on that mound."

Brewers Lose Lucroy To Freak Accident

Jonathon Lucroy suffered a broken right hand in an accident in his hotel room on Sunday night. He will be out four to six weeks, becoming Milwaukee's seventh current player on the disabled list. "It's not going too well in that area," Ron Roenicke said. "Obviously, it hurts our team a lot. I feel really bad for him. And he feels really bad about it." Lucroy said he was reaching under the bed in his hotel room for a sock Sunday night when his wife shifted a suitcase that fell and struck his hand. He tried taking some early swings in the batting cage but couldn't grip the bat properly and informed Roenicke of the injury.

Jered Weaver left his start against the Yankees in the first inning Monday night after only 12 pitches and failing to record an out. The Angels announced Weaver suffered a lower-back injury. The right-hander will undergo an MRI and X-rays on Tuesday before a decision is made on whether he will be placed on the disabled list. "I've never felt anything like that before. It felt like somebody stabbed me in the back," Weaver said. "I couldn't really do much about it. It's very disappointing. You get motivated for games like this."
