As nice it would be to focus on Todd Jones getting the 300th save of his career in Sunday's 6-4 victory over the Twins, the next series facing the Tigers nudges it prematurely out of the spotlight.
It's too admirable of an achievement not to notice and not to highlight. Bruce Sutter saved 300, and he's a Hall of Famer.
"The only way I'll go into the Hall of Fame," Jones said, "is to use the bathroom."
But with the pre-playoffs coming up, and with Jim Leyland declaring the Tigers in "a state of urgency" because of the uphill climb they face, the playoff picture comes first.
And that means the three-game series between the Tigers and Indians that begins tonight at Jacobs Field.
