Xander Bogaerts sounds as though he expects to play shortstop for the San Diego Padres -- who already have two players at the position.

"I play infield. I play shortstop," said Bogaerts, who finalized an 11-year, $280 million deal with the Padres after a physical.

San Diego already has Fernando Tatis, Jr. and Ha-Seong Kim on the roster.

"The roster is so stacked, top to bottom, it's unbelievable," Bogaerts said. "When they beat the Dodgers here, seeing how amped up the fans were during the playoffs, it was fun to watch on TV."

With Bogaert's arrival, it's expected that Tatis will move to the outfield, with Kim taking over at second base.
