The Minnesota Twins are looking to sign Byron Buxton to a contract extension, according to sources.

Minnesota is prepared to trade Buxton if the two sides can't come to terms on a long-term deal.

According to the report, the offer is "in excess of the $70 million the [New York] Yankees awarded center fielder Aaron Hicks" in February 2019 and features a number of escalators and incentives.

Buxton, 27, is entering his final year of arbitration in 2022 and will be an unrestricted free agent prior to the 2023 season.
