J.T. Realmuto has been mentioned in trade rumors for a while, but the Miami Marlins plan to approach the catcher about a possible extension this offseason.

The Marlins control Realmuto for two more seasons.

"At the appropriate time, we'll get to his representative and see if we can do something longer-term than the two years," president of baseball operations Michael Hill said. "That time hasn't happened yet, but it's something we definitely want to pursue."

Realmuto has hit .279/.327/.442 in 2,152 career plate appearances.
