Chris Sale expects to find a way to win when he takes the mound on Friday night for Game 1 of the ALDS between the Boston Red Sox and New York Yankees.

There have been questions about Sale's velocity after shoulder issues.

Since the end of July, Sale has thrown just 301 pitches and made two trips to the disabled list. In his final start of the regular season, his average fastball velocity was 90.2 mph. Over the course of the season, Sale's fastball averaged 95.3 mph.

"I don't care what I have on a given day, I should be able to find a way with whatever I have," Sale said. "Sometimes you go out there and have your best, sometimes you don't. This is sport. This is baseball. You have to find a way with whatever you have on any given day and roll with it. So I take the ball tomorrow and I expect to win."
