The Mets picked up the $16 million club option on David Wright for the 2013 season, but they are still hoping to lock him up over the long-term.

Discussions between Wright's agents and the organization have been slow and grinding. That wouldn't be alarming with time remaining to reach a deal, but the Mets did the same thing with Jose Reyes last offseason when he eventually signed with the Marlins.
