The Mets are doing their best to keep information from leaking about their ongoing negotiations with David Wright about a long-term deal.

Joel Sherman of the New York Post spoke to more than 10 baseball officials outside the Mets organization and has come up with a figure that would likely keep Wright with the franchise.

A seven-year, $127 million deal are the terms that came up most often.

Wright is due $16 million on a 2013 option. If they can finalize the extension and add the option, Wright's total future package would be worth $143 million over eight seasons.

Such a deal would make him the highest-paid player in Mets history.
