Reggie Jackson could rejoin the Yankees as a special assistant as soon as Friday, according to Brian Cashman. "I think you could see him as early as Friday," the general manager said. "He is not banned." After making disparaging remarks about Alex Rodriguez in Sports Illustrated, Jackson was told by the Yankees not to go to Fenway Park last weekend because they wanted to avoid a media distraction. Cashman said he doesn't know for certain when Jackson, a special adviser, will return to the team. "I don't think Reggie is banned from the team," he said. "He was just asked to stay away from Boston because we were on Fox national TV and ESPN national TV and there is a lot of media and it was certainly something our players didn't need extra stuff to deal with playing four games in Boston in three days. He was asked just to stay away for that reason."
