The Cardinals eliminated the Brewers in Game 6 of the NLCS, giving themselves some additional time off before the World Series begins on Wednesday. No one will benefit from the extra time off more than starter Chris Carpenter, who will likely take the mound in Game 1. "I haven't even thought about it," Carpenter said. "I'm excited to get home, get a couple days to regroup and get ready for the World Series. Everybody is dealing with (aches and) stuff right now." Carpenter is approaching a career-high in innings pitched this season. The righthander has received treatment for soreness in his right elbow, a source familiar with the situation said. Carpenter said he felt fine and that the added workload of October wasn't wearing on him. When asked about the elbow, he said, "It's nothing; I'm all good."
