The Mets have hired Bob Geren to serve as manager Terry Collins' bench coach next season. Geren will fill the bench coach vacancy created when Ken Oberkfell was axed last week as part of a staff shakeup. Jim Riggleman, who interviewed on Wednesday, was the runner-up for the job.
