Tigers manager Jim Leyland has a history of special relationships with overachieving players and Detroit's Don Kelly appears to be the latest "Leyland guy." Kelly is a versatile utility man that has appeared at every position over 287 major league games and he evokes a groundswell of emotion in Leyland that goes beyond what you'd expect from a player with a .648 career OPS. "Guys like Donnie Kelly and John Wehner and [John] Cangelosi ... they're always the underdog," Leyland said. "They want it so bad. They're not great, but they're good enough, and they're always looking for jobs. I've always had a soft spot for guys like that."
