Tigers left fielder Delmon Young hit three home runs in the team's ALDS series win over the Yankees, including a key solo jack in Game 5.
Detroit claimed Young on waivers from Minnesota on August 15.
Young is the first player to ever hit three homers in any postseason series for the Tigers.
"Is that true? That's the first I've heard of it," Young said after the game. "I don't know much about Tigers history. I've only been here a few months. As long as we won the series, that's the important thing."
Young left in the seventh inning after suffering what the club called a mild left oblique strain.
