Cubs general manager Jim Hendry called Braves contemporary Frank Wren on Saturday to apologize for the actions of pitcher Carlos Zambrano. Hendry also called to apologize Atlanta third baseman Chipper Jones. "It was a class move," Jones said. "I appreciate it. There's no hard feelings. Carlos has a tendency to run a little hot and you can tell that he was frustrated. I sort of had an inkling that it was coming." Zambrano was ejected for throwing at Jones after buzzing two pitches inside in the fifth inning, after he'd given up five home runs, incuding a three-run homer to Jones in a 10-4 loss.
