New York manager Joe Girardi says it's gratifying to enter the series in a dead heat. "I think it says that we've been playing well," Girardi said. "We've been chasing them for a while now. It just says a lot about this club and what we've been through. We've overcome some things. It is significant." The Red Sox have won eight of nine against the Yankees this season.
