Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez hit second for the team on Monday night, moving one spot higher in the batting order. Ramirez entered Monday night's game hitting .213. Florida manager Edwin Rodriguez explained it as a two-pronged move that also was designed to keep John Buck out of the No. 8 hole in the order. For Ramirez, it beat being dropped to the sixth spot, which Rodriguez said he also considered. "I like to see Hanley coming up in the first inning because he can create so many things when he's on base," Rodriguez said. "And if I hit Hanley in the sixth or seventh hole, he gets on base, he steals a base, and then they walk the eighth hitter." It was the first time Ramirez hit second since his rookie season in 2006. He went 0-for-6 against the Mets.
