Jake Peavy pitched well in his first spring start with the White Sox on Friday.
In two innings he tossed 26 pitches, striking out two and walking one without yielding a hit.
Peavy injured his throwing shoulder last July 6 against the Angels and missed the remainder of the season.
"I'm relieved, pleased, it was a good day, a big step in the right direction," Peavy said.
"We got out there in a game and did what I expected to do, I hoped I would be able to do and that's turn it up a level and get some big league hitters out and feel normal in doing that. I think we accomplished that today and I hope we've put a lot of questions and issues to rest."
