Mets principal owner Fred Wilpon, COO Jeff Wilpon and president Saul Katz met with commissioner Bud Selig on Tuesday to address the team's finances, according to a baseball source.
The Wilpons on Friday announced their intention to sell 20 to 25 percent of the team.
They will do so to satisfy any judgment or settlement in a sealed lawsuit filed by the trustee trying to recover funds for victims of convicted felon Bernard Madoff's Ponzi scheme.
The Wilpons and Sterling Equities, their company that controls the Mets, were sued Dec. 7 by Irving H. Picard, the trustee charged with distributing money to victims of Madoff's Ponzi scheme.
