Ken Oberkfell will interview for the Mets managerial vacancy on Thursday or Friday when general manager Sandy Alderson visits the Dominican Republic.
Oberkfell has managed the Mets' Triple-A affiliate for the past six seasons, through stops in Norfolk, New Orleans and Buffalo.
He served as New York's first base coach for the second half of the 2008 season after Willie Randolph and his staff were fired.
The interview will take place in the Dominican Republic because Oberkfell is managing Escogido.
